Roomate Season 2 impressions

My first impressions after watching episode one of Roommate Season 2

roommate season 2

I will definitely miss all the members in season one however, all the new members seems so chill. The following are an overview of the new members and my impressions of them.

Park Joon Hyung (G.O.D. ) (46) is part of the popular idol boy band back in the 90s. He looks so easy going and opens the show skateboarding. He is basically my father's age but he's still so cool. I liked that he was open and said he liked Roomate because there was no script because if there was he would be thinking to hard. He's the neighborhood brother that can become friends with anyone in seconds. Although this is also the first time he is meeting everyone, he knows how to break the ice by saying  "yo", "what's up man" and high fiving.  The image he is giving is similar to Shin Mama except he is even cooler. There is still that vibe from him that he is a superstar and needs respect.

Jackson (GOT7) (21) I had no idea jackson was cantonese just like me. Amazed that he could speak three languages. He was showing off some dance moves and it was pretty cool. He happened to be in the same company as park Joon Hyung and were able to converse in english fluently so they connected immediatley. He seems to be the disruptive class clown. Jo Se Ho asked him to wash the dishes. He did it but complained when Park Joon Hyung came along. This is understandable since nobody wants to do any chores but again we see how different previous members are compared to the second season. I see that Ga Eun and Minwoo are always the one washing the dishes they never complained since they are timid but minwoo reached a breaking point and wanted to speak about it with Lee So Ra, and So Ra started got irritated. Since they brought someone with a different personality into the game, I'm curious as to how this plays out. I like how this show is real and highlights what could happen in daily life and it not just all scripted with everything being perfect.

Bae Jong OK- veteran actress (50) This is the first time she is in a variety show. She is the oldest member and I get the feeling of a mother from her. She was a bit demanding like Lee So Ra asking others to help her with her luggage. However we do need an older member to be in charge and get things in order.

Sunny (girls Generation) (25)-She's cute and talkative. She been in the entertainment business for a longtime ever since her debut. She is an experienced singer with variety experience. Back when she was in season 1 of  invincible youth she was already the sunbae leading Tara's hyomin who just debuted at that time.

Lee Guk Ju (comedian)(28)-She is just hilarious. She is not afraid to goof around and bring laughters to audience. With both Jo Se Ho and lee Guk Ju on board they will make the show a lot brighter.

Ryohei Otani(actor) (34)-suave guy. He's a model turned actor that entered the korean entertainment through a Dunkin Donuts commercial. He's been in multiple tv dramas and blockbuster movies with the most recent being "Roaring Currents". He seemed to be a gentleman and is more reserved compared to the other new male members.

Heo Youngji (kara) (28) she seems bright. Her trademark laugh is a wide open mouth. She doesn't seem like the type to care about her image too much which I like because she seem more natural. She is the newly added member of kara and the youngest member of the show. She was selected to be in kara from a televised competition sort of like american idol so she has variety skills. She's not squeamish seeing how she handles the octopus easily.

When the members first met in the beginning, seeing min woo left with park joon hyung and jackson, I realized that he's shy, just like me. Even when I am with classmates that I've known for the last four years, I seem to be unable to blend with them. No matter how easy going the other are, it's just difficult for me to socialize.

I am still amazed whenever I see Lee Dong Wook wears casual clothes. Every single drama I saw him in he is a chaebol or rich man and he is dressed in dress shirt and in suit. Im so used to seeing him dress up so nicely that whenever I see in a T-shirt and a cap I realize that he is an actor. He is just playing a role and in his normal life he dresses just like all of us. This is what I like about variety shows. You get to see how a celebrity's personality and see how the person really is like in normal daily life instead of their role and image they play and keep when they are on stage or filming.

Room Pairing

Jong Ok and Sunny

Ryohei and park joon hyung

jackson and Seo Kang joon

nana, lee Guk Ju, Young Gi

Jo Se Ho, minwoo and lee dong wook-sidenote when dong wook found out he was in a room with minwoo, he didn't look too happy. I'm still bothered with season 1 of roomate where we saw a little footage of lee dong wook lecturing minwoo but the producers decided not to broadcast the conflicts. I really wanted to see what conflict they were going through and I wanted to learn how to live comfortably with other people too.

cucumber- our cute beagle. I wish I had a dog like her. However someone needs to be in charge of her and potty train her.

For the second season, everyone's bed are gone and are only left with the mattress

The character of the new members are different than first seasons members. First seasons members tends to be more reserved and quiet. Second season people seem a whole lot more fun and can joke around. I'm excited for a new season of Roommate. I enjoyed the first season of Roommate and will definitely continue to watch the second season.

How do you feel about Season 2 of Roommate?

Jung Joon Young and Jung Yoo Mi couple: Season 4 We Got Married

Jung Joon Young and Jung Yoo Mi of Season 4 of We Got Married

For those who don't know, We Got Married is a korean TV show that shows the interaction of two celebrities in a virtual marriage. Most of the couples do not know who their partners are and meet their partners on the first day of filming. The show follows the couple from their first day they meet up, gives them missions from time to time, sends them on a vacation, and finally announces them to break up.

I started watching this show in the beginning of season 4 where the original couples were Julien Kang & Yoon Se-Ah, Hwang Kwanghee & Han Sun Hwa, Lee Joon & Oh Yeon-seo. But I have to say that Jung Joong Young & Jung Yoo Mi couple was the most interesting.

This couple has been named the 4D couple, PokaGuri, and Jung Jung couple. They aren't the typical lovey dovey couple that we are used to seeing on WGM and if I was to describe it, they are more like the children that grew up together and the guy picks on the girl all the time. In the beginning when I was watching this, I didn't like the interaction between the two since it wasn't romantic enough. It felt like Yoo Mi was the mother nagging after her son and the Joong Young didn't care about the show. I felt that if my husband was like that, I would go insane. For example, when they had to complete the mission of buying goods to decorate their house, Joon Young scurries away at every chance he could to play video games and I could feel the exact fustration Yoo Mi was feeling. But as I continued to watch them, I liked how realistic their relationship is. Instead of watching the same old plot of a gentlemen pulling out chairs for the lady, planning a special event or, playing a romantic piano piece, their interactions were all unexpected, unique and has brought me lots of excitement while watching them. I slowly looked forward to this couple each time I watched we got married.

love and hate relationship from jung joon young and jung yoo mi couple

In a real relationship, most couples won't have same preferences and are probably going to disagree on certain things. Jung Yoo Mi has an active vibrant personality that loves going out and doing lots of outdoor sports. Jung Joon Young on their other hand would rather staying up late playing video games. It is because they are so different that watching how they compromise with each other is what makes this relationship interesting. JJY is always using every bit of his brain to come out with plan to get himself out of doing something. He is a good at negotiating, at speaking, and at acting. He can convince you into thinking that stapler is white when in fact it is black in order to get out of doing something.  Because he didn't want to wait for her to change into a wedding dress, he asks if it would be faster to change into a minidress and then chooses the minidress since its faster. In order to get out of running the marathon he has negotiated to teach her how to play the guitar in exchange for canceling the marathon, adding that he is only doing that so she woudn't get hurt when running the marathon. When that didn't work he would act tired or that he hurt his ankle to get out of training. They are constantly playing games to decide whether they would go through with an action or canceling it. When he loses in a game, he would say "I purposely let you win". When Yoo Mi fell down when racing, while applying medicine onto her wounds, he says "it is because of your greed that this happened". Even when singing a song, most couples would sing romantic song, his songs are comedic and gives you a different feel than songs that  yoo han sings. It was amusing to watch this couple because in the same season, the yoo han and lee seo eon couple were such lovey dovey characters and it was nice to see how drastically differently the two couple were.

jung joon young devlish logic starting up

It's annoying yet amusing to see how joon young teases yoo mi all the time. He says there is a surprise behind the door  and because this is a romantic dating show you would expect a surprise but when she opens the door, it turns out to be the boiler room. When he is annoying her he explains "Don't think that I'm bossing you around, I am only requesting you and helping you out". He can instantly change the mood to everything. The more you tell him to do something, the more he rebels. When they were at a chapel, Yoo Mi wanted to experience walking doing the aisle  peaceful however JJY makes loud rock sounds while making Yoo mi describes it as she felt black water flowing in to the white chapel. At times I feel pretty annoyed at JJY for being uncooperative with Yoo Mi but this is also the unpredictable and comedic side that makes this couple so charming. However despite how unyielding they are with each other's ideas they seem to play well and blend well with each other.

jung joong young and jung yoo mi playing well with each other

Despite how unromantic he is, you can tell that he loves yoo mi. I remember in psychology class, they say guys like to tease the person they like. You can see that instead of being romantic, he uses his own ways of loving Yoo Mi. During the wedding shoot, Yoo Mi was sick, he warms up citron tea with hot packs, placed a coat around her shoulder, and tried to finish the photoshoot fast. He knows how to be romantic and caring, he just doesn't do it to tease Yoo Mi but when Yoo Mi is sick, he steps up his game. This is when you can tell a person is caring. At the very last episode, after playing the guitar, he kept on making weird movement and sound so that Yoo Mi wouldn't cry. Because they aren't romantic, it gives a nice refreshing change to all the lovey dovey couples we've seen.  I would definitely recommend you to watch this couple.

Their virtual marriage appeared on episode 188 to 222 from season 4 of we got married.

Above are pictures from their wedding photoshoot. They even have vampire theme photoshoot the guri planned which only totally fits their 4D character.

In the midst of filming WGM, JJY was also releasing his album and had JYM appear in his MV which you can watch here. I think the MV was breathtaking. It's hard to believe that the frail looking guy with such dark circles would be so charismatic and has such a smooth and deep voice.

PS: because of his hilarious antics and smooth talking skills he has been casted into season 3 of one night two days which I think he is perfect for. I intend to watch him more on there.

Who is your favorite couple in WGM?
What parts do you like the most from the PokaGuri couple?
